Friday
And now goodmorrow to our waking souls
On these hot days, the best time to be alive is around 6am, when the sun has just risen while the night chill lingers. Listen to light music, catch that summer breeze, and have a good weekend!

Nurses
While wandering the warehouse-overshadowed eastside industrial district the other day, I was slowly drawn by the distant sounds of electric guitar to a backyard of a bar, where, through the slates of the fence, I observed these guys. They are probably best described by the Willamette week as "A long-lost psychedelic Elephant 6 band who stole Animal Collective's gear and tripped out on The Wizard of Oz one too many times". They are most definitely natives of our little city. Look for their first album, Apple's Acre, this August.
Take a listen.
Take a listen.

and on the riverbank forgotten the rivers name

There's nothing better than waking up to a warm breeze, rich sunlight and a pair of house finches outside your window. I think today begs for a park, a poetry book, and a blanket.and on the riverbank forgotten the rivers name

Thursday
You said "live" out loud and "die" You said lightly, and over and over again You said "be".

Happy belated birthday, Quiet Cartesian. This would have been up here yesterday if pictures didn't take so long to develop. Here's to many more rambles with camera in hand.

God speaks to each of us as he makes us,
then walks with us silently out of the night.
These are the words we dimly hear:
You, sent out beyond your recall,
go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me.
Flare up life flame
and make big shadows I can move in.
Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Don't let yourself lose me.
Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its seriousness.
Give me your hand.

Saturday
even breathing feels alright
And we pray, not
for new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart, and in eye,
clear. What we need is here.

Such a spring sun! People really would be happier in this city if it was sunny more often. Don't get me wrong, rain is my passion. But living in such a wet shadowland all year round, sometimes one needs light. Dark Was The Night is my new soundtrack to life. And Where We're From my present love. Now off with you - go kick your heels in the sun!
Sunday
we lay with the day
Pencils, paper, sunburns, fresh-cut grass, cellos, hot evenings....and speaking of cellos, keep an eye out for this. I fancy it'll be worth catching. As will Riceboy Sleeps. And enjoy this....

Most experiences are unsayable, they happen in a space that no word has ever entered, and more unsayable than all other things are works of art
- R. M. Rilke
Such an undecided, disconcerting spring day. But here's a little something to look at (click here for more info) And for those of you enjoying this weather...a group just for you.
