One very red sunburn and an evening later, the Pickathon is still going strong. My discoveries of the day: The Sadies aren't quite as good with out John Doe, the Wiyos (as well as opening for Bob Dylan this year on his tour) do a great cover of this, and The Deep Dark Woods are definitely worth following.

First day of PDX's own Indie Roots Music Festival (i.e. everything you could want from jungle blues to bluegrass) at Pendarvis Farm, OR. Its agoin on all weekend (31-2), so if you can make it for just a day - believe me, despite the price, it'll be worth it. Six stages of musicians - workshop barns, beer gardens for the 21andolder, square dancing and if you need some quiet - a forest of trails and hikes. If you're coming from the city, there is free transportation from a few transit centers via the EcoShuttle. And for those of you unable to take the trek out to square dance and clap your hands in person, take a listen:
